Updated on:

After a long wait, fans of the “Bad Boys” franchise are finally getting what they have been hoping for – the fourth installment of the beloved film series. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, who have been the mainstays of the franchise, announced the film “Bad Boys 4” through a video on social media with the caption, “IT’S ABOUT THAT TIME!”. The untitled sequel will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who also helmed the highly successful 2020 release “Bad Boys for Life”.

Variety reports that Chris Bremner is working on the script for the fourth film, which will once again see Smith and Lawrence reprising their roles as Miami-Dade detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. This announcement is great news for fans of the franchise, as “Bad Boys for Life” grossed a massive USD 426.5 million globally and outperformed the first two installments combined.

The first “Bad Boys” film was released 25 years ago, directed by Michael Bay and introducing audiences to the dynamic duo of Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey. The 2003 sequel, “Bad Boys II”, grossed USD 273 million worldwide, while the original film made USD 141 million. However, with “Bad Boys for Life”, the franchise has only continued to grow in popularity, making the announcement of a fourth film all the more exciting.
