Important Points to remember: Always take a backup of your old theme before changing it. To download the backup file of your theme, click on the down arrow available on the right side of customize button.
How to change a theme using Blogger’s theme?
Step 1: Go to your Blogger Dashboard Area.
Step 2: Click on Theme.
Step 3: Choose a theme from Blogger’s theme list, and click on it.
Step 4: Click on Apply button. Your theme will be changed.
How to Change a theme using third party theme?
Before installing a third-party theme, you must choose a theme from a third-party theme provider. Once you find your favorite theme, download it to your computer.
I will take an example of a theme provider called gooyaabitemplates.com.
Step 1: Visit gooyaabitemplates.com, and search for a theme. I found a theme here called “Tutorial Blogger Template”. You can take a look here at the demo of the theme by clicking “Live Preview”.
You can buy a premium version of this theme to get the full functionality of this theme. However, You do not need to buy a premium version before. You can buy it once the blog is set up.
Step 2: Click on the Download button. The zip file of the theme will be downloaded on your computer.
Step 3: Go to the Download folder on your computer. Unzip the theme zip file. You will find many files, but the theme file will be an XML document.
Step 4: Go to your Blogger Dashboard Area, Click Theme. You will find a Customize button here.
Step 5: Click on the down arrow available on the right side of the customize button.
You will find 2 ways here to change your theme.
- By clicking Restore.
- By Clicking Edit HTML.

Step 6: Click on Restore, then click Upload. It will take you to the location of your computer.
Step 7: Choose the XML file of the theme, click Open. Your theme will change.

Step 7: Go to the location of your computer where you saved your XML theme file. Right-click>Open with>Notepad. Your theme file will now open in Notepad.
Step 8: Select all (ctrl+a) HTML code, then copy (ctrl+c) all the codes.
Step 9: Go to Blogger, Select All, and delete all HTML codes.
Step 10: Paste (ctrl+v) codes here. Click on save.
Your theme will change. You can take a look at your website by clicking View blog.
Changing a theme in a blogger’s blog is not a difficult task. To change the blog theme, Blogger has more than 50 themes. But my opinion is always to choose the third party theme. Because the third-party theme is nice-looking themes, it attracts more visitors to the blog. It provides outstanding design facilities for blogs. You can use any of the third-party theme providers from the above list to choose a good blogger theme.
