Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 is going to be the last show in the Star Trek original series.
The TV show Star Trek: Discovery will end after its fifth season, which will air in early 2024. The show follows the story of Michael Burnham, a Starfleet officer who becomes a captain. The show has won awards and has a talented cast. Despite the show coming to an end, there will be events to celebrate its legacy over the next year.
Star Trek: Discovery is the longest-running Star Trek show on a streaming service called Paramount+. It was one of the first shows on the service and led to other Star Trek shows being made. This includes a show about Captain Pike and other shows that are not directly related to Discovery. Discovery helped keep the streaming service going so they could make more Star Trek shows. Now there are many Star Trek shows, some live-action and some animated, like Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Star Trek: Prodigy.
Star Trek: Discovery inspired other Star Trek series to have more diverse casts while keeping the old characters that people love. Actors from different generations have played these old characters again or new actors have taken on these roles. Some examples are Ethan Peck playing Spock in Strange New Worlds, Kate Mulgrew coming back as Kathryn Janeway in Prodigy, and many of the old crew from TNG playing their old roles again in the current season of Picard.
