The first Women’s Premier League Player Auction happened and 87 players were sold to 5 teams (Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz). The teams spent a total of 59,50,00,000 rupees on players. Both experienced and new players were bought for high prices. Smriti Mandhana was the most expensive player and was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for 3.40 Crore rupees. The Indian cricket team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, went to the Mumbai Indians for 1.80 Crore rupees. Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues were bought by UP Warriorz and Delhi Capitals for 2.60 Crore and 2.20 Crore rupees respectively. The top overseas players were Ashleigh Gardner from Australia and Natalie Sciver from England. The auction was very exciting and the teams are now ready to start the Women’s Premier League .
